Tarot for Corona

Ace of Cups/ Four of Pentacles

I usually love aces. Who doesn't love a gift from spirit? Pure energy, seemingly untouched by humans-- direct from the source. The swirling waters of emotional energy produced by the collective grief we are experiencing needs somewhere to go. We can't hold it all: and if we forget to dump it, but choose to distract ourselves to escape, then we will likely find ourselves awake in the middle of the night having strange nightmares or worrying about things we did not worry about in the light of day.

I started gardening lately, and I have found that I am not alone. I have run into friends (online!) who have started gardening who don't typically- and some of my kids' teachers have mentioned new gardens in their weekly emails. Many people are turning to this as a way to be more self-sustaining and as a way to reconnect with the earth. We have naturally and collectively turned to an activity that decreases our feelings of general unease by doing something that is not only good for the planet but also good for the soul.

We know how to heal ourselves as a planet-- we just need to remember that we do.

My husband has found solace from his fears of bringing covid into our house by taking over the dahlias. Even now, in this grey time, he plans for next year and admires the pictures he's taken. It has been a blessing for him, and a joy for the neighborhood, to coax the colorful blooms from the earth.
